  Anyone know what happened to John Joseph May, the Irish Elder who visited Ray Franz and the GB turned away?

  does anyone know what eventually happened to the vocal and well loved irish elder john joseph may, who found out about the franz scandal and went to visit the gb in new york, but was turned away?

  i remember there was a documentary made about himself and martin merryman.

  all this happened back in the 80s/90s so he must be getting up in years by now.. he seemed such a genuine soul i truly hope things turned out well for him.. https://youtu.be/dnwsq2pdbxk.

  Now that JWs know there is a pedophile problem...

  ... will they take it upon themselves to warn their bible studies of pedophile activity in the congregations so they can protect their children, or will the cycle of abuse continue with the attitude of letting new ones take their chances along with the rest of us?.

  I have not seen the article. Did they really "mention... the points of not having to testify to the elders with the perp present and having a same gender advocate present, and calling the cops." Awesome. Those were ARC recommendations that they rejected.

  What does the cult consider you if....

  if you were a baptized jw for years, left the cult and made it known to one person maybe two at different times so as not to get dfed.

  so the congregation knows you are not a believer but you ever were disassociated or dfed, what does your old hall consider you?

  is there a time limit were you are just dropped from the rolls?

  If you can't remember anyone's name in your last congregation its likely that no one remembers you either. When someone from the old days is still sitting on their ass at meetings waiting Armchairgeddon, then they may have someone who could point you out. I wouldn't worry about it if its been 10 years or more without being viewed as a jw.

  Are You Still “Technically “ A Jehovah’s Witness?

  if we haven’t associated with the congregation in years, could it be said we are not jws?

  or must you be disfellowshipped or disassociated to officially say you really aren’t a witness?.

  Think of the signs you are not a witness any longer:

  Fellow witnesses no longer seek your company.

  They don't visit you.

  They don't offer to help you when you have need.

  They NEVER kick in for gas.

  They back stab you with hateful gossip.

  WAIT,

  With that's how they treat each other when they are active and in good standing, so how could you tell?

  The problem with movies this last decade or so

  actually, i think i've discovered two issues.. the first is that there are too many soft reboots, remakes and re-imaginings.

  don't get me wrong, hollywood has always done remakes and some remakes work very well.

  the fly (1986) and the thing (1982) are actually remakes/re-imaginings of the original 50s films.

  So long as audiences keep going to remakes the situation will stay the same. When something original comes a long, "ala" The Green Book, it has to be trashed. Sad really. I liked the Cohen brother's film The Ballad of Buster Skruggs. It is so different that it was awesome. It poked holes in the genre in ways Seth Mcfarlen's western couldn't touch.

  the international assemblies are on... and the missionaries are coming home... and leaving richer.. i have, in all seriousness, been told by a co that the missionaries going home have large sums of money hidden in their luggage as they go back to their assignments.

  .

  he related how one couple was almost caught with the undeclared cash as they passed through customs.. this has been going on for quite some time, the watchtower using missionaries are mules.. i bet with all the kingdumb hall sales the pace has picked up..

  The new MIB is a snoozefest. There is nothing in it to recommend either lead actor. They have so little chemistry that it was "Anti chemistry". A waste of money except for the little pawn fellow and he was predictable.

  Though Heredity is loved by critics it was a jumbled mess without any real scares. Others will disagree, more power to them. I found it derivative and predictable. To hear an 18 year old crying out for "Mommy" was comical.

  Saw the latest spider man film. The air-conditioning was clearly the biggest attraction. It was a summer blockbuster and as such was more cartoon than live action film.

  Something I just realized!

  now that i'm out if i ever do find someone and settle down and start a family, my parents wont be a part of it.

  my dad wont walk me down the isle if i get married, if i have kids they wont know their grandparents.

  oh and by the way i had my freaking tubes tied so as not to have kids in this system.

  Seldom did anyone show up to prepare presentations beforehand when I had parts. I hated it. They always winged it. I got used to the apathy and started to do the same.
